Sicily…from the archive.

We love Sicily it’s a massively underrated destination in the Med. An incredible amalgamation of Italian, Greek and North African architecture, delicious food, exciting wine and very few tourist, what’s not to like?

The Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista is the main monument of Ragusa Superiore to the right of centre. Here’s a panoramic, stitched landscape, no tripod involved so we’re quite impressed with photoshops job!

The Dead Sea…from the archive.

Ripples on the Dead Sea in Israel with Jordan on the horizon. Such a tranquil place yet it is surrounded on all sides by political and religious confusion. Will there ever be peace in the Middle East?

Death Valley…from the archive.

Whilst on a road trip along the West coast of USA with an old friend, we located a range of disused mines in the desert. They had a nostalgic charm but also reminded us of the raw power and labour that America is founded on. This mine head was located in the middle of Death Valley, we even found an original Norwegian Mackrell tin from 1912!

Dramatic architectural designs in paradise.

Three properties using the same visual language but with different volumes and surface materials. A small rocky out crop in the fjords provides a dramatic location for these innovative housing designs.

Link Arkitektur have had some fun on the drawing board here, the angled walls visually minimise the overall appearance of the structures. Split over two floors the properties afford unobstructed views out to sea. Large balconies were a priority for all of the residents so their children can plan safely in a controlled space at young age. The gardens back on to drops of over 10 meters down to the small harbour.

Mediterranean atmosphere for this scandinavian residential design.

Combining white rendered concrete with wooden cladding has provided a mediterranean feel to this residential property. We we’re lucky with the weather on our visit as the sun beat down over the fjords at Hellen Panorama designed by Link Arkitektur.

The project integrates contemporary living spaces with large breakout balconies and communal play areas. Although according to the residents of which the majority are pensioners the bouncing horse will receive little attention except when grand children visit!

Designing an open plan office environment using primary colours.

Providing a stimulating yet functional office environment is not as easy as it sounds. Here Link Arkitektur have played with the idea of intertwined energy forms and translated this into primary colours and graphics.

The concept derives from the resident company ABB’s business, a multinational corporation headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, operating in robotics and mainly in the power and automation technology areas.

Bergen…from the archive

This shot sat in a picture library untouched for about 5 years, before being snapped up by an American Industrial company for $8500! Not bad for an evening stroll around the old dockyards of Bergen, Norway.

Living on the edge of a nature reserve at Koksabukta!

South of Oslo lies the peninsula of Fornebu, formally the main airport before Gardemoen was developed. The large idyllic plot of land surrounded by fjord has been made available for residential development and Link Arkitektur are one of the first to complete a development.

Elegantly designed Knarvik church.

Took a few shots on the iPhone as I drove past this dramatic church recently designed by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter, looking forward to photographing it properly when the project completes.

Asker Culture House a beacon for the community.

Hidden away in a sleepy town just outside of Oslo sits Asker. Surrounded by gentle rolling hills and forest it was time for the centre of town to be revitalised. Link Arkitektur was awarded the challenge to design an integrated culture centre incorporating a library, cinema, gallery and cafe.
