Rebirth of the Library!
I remember the days of heading to my local library as a child, dusty book shelves full of dog eared books that were well out of date! You can rely on the Swedes to be one step ahead. The new extension to Göteborg’s central library is full of innovation. A vibrant interior design by Sweden’s Link Arkitektur division with Erséus Arkitekter holding responsibility for the architectural renovation. One of our favourite elements was the children’s amphitheatre, flashing multicoloured lights and surround sound thunder storms in the rain forest, awesome!
The previous building was a simple brick structure, this has been gutted and completely renovated with the addition of a sensitive glass, brick and steel frame. The library incorporates modern additions like the super sized flat screen games console zone, chill out areas for listening to music and surfing the net.
