Casablanca…from the Archive

We continue our series ‘From the Archive’ with this shot from Casablanca of the Hassan II Mosque. Partially concealed by fog we see a muslim head to pray in a Jalaba. I actually set this shot up in bright sunlight, but within 2 minutes the Atlantic fog engulfed this fantastic structure!

Bergen Airport Extension

The geotechnic foundations are developing rapidly at Bergen Airport, the new extension is due to be completed in 2017. We captured this shot on the iPhone while passing through over the weekend. The project involves an exciting collaboration between Avinor AS and Team_T3, consisting of: Nordic – Office of Architecture, Norconsult AS, Cowi AS, Was-Jacobsen and Per Rasmussen AS.

Moscow…from the archive.

This is a new little ongoing feature. With over 100,000 images in our archive we thought it would be a good idea to share a few of them on the first of each month. Now they might not be design related but we hope you’ll find them interesting.

Neglespretten 2014 – Winter Sailing Regatta, Bergen

We’ve been considering expanding in to the world of Yacht photography. So what better time and place to begin… Bergen mid winter! I joined an old friend to compete in the race. Fun was had by all and the weather provided plenty of visual action!

The complete portfolio can be viewed here, please get in touch if you would like to buy any images : http://www.hundven-clements.com/client_projects/sailing/neglespretten2014

On the road to Luderitz, Namibia.

Working on a new batch of submissions to Gallery Stock our picture library. Being immersed in this desert road certainly helps with the European winter blues! Love the simplicity and elegance of the pylons. DHCRoad_to_Luderitz_HUNDVEN-CLEMENTS_PHOTOGRAPHY

Portraits of scandinavian architects with energy!

While we spend most of our time photographing the latest and greatest designs by contemporary architects it’s quite fun to turn the camera on the creator every now and then. Here’s a selection of portraits we recently produced for Link Arkitektur. The brief was fairly open but the MD was interested in showing a bit more energy and personality than traditional corporate portraits.

It’s not always easy convincing people that are not professional models to relax in front of the camera, but we think everyone enjoyed themselves.

Stunning Sicilian Church, Thank you for following our 2013 Architectural Calendar

Yes you could say we’re slightly obsessed with religious architecture but why not? There are so many exciting structures to explore all around the world which directly reflect the society that produced them. See our Structural Divinity project shot across Southern Africa for more insights: http://www.hundven-clements.com/journeys/structural_divinity/index.htm

The December issue displays a fascinating cathedral called Santuario Della Madonna Delle Lacrime designed by architects Michel Andrault and Pierre Parat and built in Syracuse, Sicily. On 29 August 1953, a small plaster image of the Virgin Mary in the house of Angelo Iannuso and Antonina Giusto suddenly began to shed tears. The following days, on 30 and 31 August and on 1 September, tears were seen again on the Virgin’s face. The cavernous space was designed to house the image which reportedly bestowed 300+ miraculous cures over a few months after the tears.
